Applied Kinesiology: Advancements in Your Health

Muscle testing is used as a primary feedback mechanism to examine how a person’s body is functioning. When the right way applied, the outcome will determine the best form of therapy for the patient. Drawing together the core elements of many complimentary therapies, it provides an interdisciplinary approach to healthcare.

When a muscle tests weak, it is determined why it is not properly functioning and then the therapy that will best eliminate the weakness and help the patient is applied. Therapies utilized can include specific joint manipulations or mobilizations, various myofascial therapies, cranial techniques, and various reflex procedures. By applying the appropriate therapy, the muscle tests strong and the postural distortion will change.

If it moves or functions in the body…..we understand the process behind the mechanisms taking place and make it move and function better.

We are challenging the body to perform tests that it should be able to easily do and integrate.

These challenges include every system and function in the body directly or indirectly.

There is a growing number of doctors from all over the world who are learning Applied Kinesiology and are finding AK to be an invaluable tool in diagnosing and treating their patients.

This is the most inclusive and dynamic healing system in the world from some of the best minds spanning all of healthcare.

There are a lot of misconceptions about what Applied Kinesiology is and is not

Sometimes masses will say that they don't believe in this AK stuff. My response is "What part don't you believe in?" The Anatomy, neurology, physiology, pathology, biochemistry and the work of thousands of MD's, PhD's, DC's, DO's, Massage Therapists and Rolfers, Specialists in Neurology, Embryology, Cardiology, Nephrology, OB/GYN, PEDS, Podiatrists, Nutrition, and Acupuncture and lots more.

The genius of Dr. Goodheart was 2 fold. 1) He saw and made connection that nobody else saw……and 2) He brought together the work of everyone into a cohesive system  to heal people.

AK had its beginning in 1964 when Dr. George Goodheart DC, of Detroit, Michigan, used manual muscle testing, as described by Kendall and Kendall, to examine a person with shoulder problems. Finding a “winging scapula, Goodheart palpated and rubbed out some nodules in the Serratus Anterior muscle. The patient felt better and when the muscle was tested there was much less “winging.” Surprised by the dramatic results, Goodheart set out to retrieve the mechanism for this immediate improvement and thus commenced the system we currently call Applied Kinesiology. To that initial incident numerous examinations and treatment techniques have been added by Dr. Goodheart and many others.

Applied Kinesiology is the only dynamic system used in the chiropractic profession.

Applied Kinesiology is not limited to the chiropractic profession, but the bulk of practitioners in the United States are DC's. This is different in Europe where the majority are now in the medical profession.

AK is about testing and treating the functions and processes of the body and not the diseases or symptoms that are a byproduct of compensation. It is an understanding of why things are happening instead of treating the numbers.
